Though U.S. participation in the Iraq conflict is near conclusion, the war in Afghanistan carries on with intensity. Increased number of injured servicemembers means greater focus on serving veterans and disabled vets as a national priority.  The numbers speak for themselves:

•3.6 million troops deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan since 2001

•55,000+ physical injuries resulting in disability status

•Number of disabled vets nationwide has grown 25% since 2001

•500,000+ family members affected by servicemember injuries

•Up to 500,000 vets reporting post-deployment major depression or PTSD

• 5+ YEARS – time it can take to recover and transition to a productive life
